Grow Through Grief
This 5-week class is offered periodically throughout the year at Iowa River Hospice. This is a support group designed to help those learning to deal with their grief and loss. The class provides videos, handouts and most important of all, time to talk to others experiencing the same things. Participants are asked to attend all five sessions. This group is held twice yearly in the lower level conference room. Please call us to register for the next opportunity. All are welcome!
Iowa River Hospice’s Common Bonds was developed to nurture caregivers. Each day can be a challenge for the caregiver but you are not alone. Become part of a network to provide strength and caring solutions for one another. All are welcome - every meeting or just once in awhile. Meets every 3rd Monday each month at the Iowa River Hospice Library in Marshalltown at 2:00 pm. Support is available for your loved one during the group meeting.
When it comes to dealing with grief, children are often forgotten. This group is designed for children in grades 1-6 who have lost a loved one to death. The class runs 3 sessions, periodically throughout the year. The children are educated about death and grief through discussion, stories and activities. Trained volunteers assist with the children. This program is funded by Anderson Funeral Homes.
Healing Hearts in Marshalltown Schools
Group support is available to children in the Marshalltown Schools, based on need and per request of school counselors. This service is sponsored by Anderson Funeral Homes.
This group meets the first Thursday of each month from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm at the hospice office. It is open to all individuals who have experienced the recent death of a loved one. Appropriate throughout the first year of loss.
“Helping All Loved Ones Survive” This group meets the first Monday of each month at 12:00 pm at the Trojan Inn in Toledo.
