End of Life Care Individual Modules
on Different Aspects of End of Life Care
Nusing Care at the End of Life Will discuss individual assessment
of care at the end of life based on a model for quality of life, examine oppurtunities for growth at the end of life, discuss
life closure, and define the role of the nurse in extending palliative care principles across health care settings to improve
end of life care.
Pain Management Will examine the pharmacological and nonpharmacological therapies and techniques,
and will discuss pain during the last hours of life and intractable pain at the end of life.
Symptom Management Will
examine common symptoms in the different body systems seen at the end of life and discuss the causes of these symptoms, assessment
of the symptoms, and treatments for the different symptoms.
Cultural Considerations in End of Life Care Will
discuss the different beliefs regarding death, dying, after life and bereavement in a variety of cultures.
Communication Will
discuss communication process, verbal, and non-verbal, listening and silence will be examined. You will be able to implement
interventions for encouraging free communication.
Grief, Loss and Bereavement Discussing nursing assessment
of grief and grief interventions. You will examine the nurse's role and cumulative loss and grief.
Audience Anyone
who is involved in caregiving or dealing with end-of-life issues, such as nurses, department heads in long term care, hospice
staff, social workers, marriage/family therapists, and anyone interested in the topic. Can be adapted for non-medical.100%
attendance required for CEU/CEH credit. No partial credit given.
