Professional Education

These classes are designed for anyone who is involved in care giving or dealing with end-of- life issues such as nurses, department heads in long term care, hospice staff, social workers, marriage/family therapists and anyone interested in the topic. Attendance of 100% is required for CEU/CEH credit. No partial credit can be awarded. We can adapt these classes for a non medical audience.



Communicating with Compassion

The objectives of this class are:

  • Understand how compassion can improve communication and the quality of life for the hospice patient and family.
  • Verbalize the feeling and emotions behind compassionate communication.
  • Understand the elements of compassionate communication (attention, acknowledgement, affection, and acceptance).
  • Improve the quality of life for the hospice patient and family.
  • Role-play these elements so you can implement them into your nursing or health care providers practice.


Hospice 101

The objectives of this class are:

  • Define hospice care, admission criteria, and services provided.
  • Understand who are members of the hospice team.
  • Discuss where hospice services are available and how these are paid for.
  • Discuss the myths of hospice care.


A number of 5 minute classes are also availabe to be given at nursing facility meetings when time is short. For more information contact Paige Harvey
