Become a Volunteer

Our volunteers often say they receive more than they give when choosing to take our volunteer class and become involved here at Iowa River Hospice. The classes are given twice a year, spring and fall. They consist of 4 evening classes that meet for 3 hours at a time. The classes are a great way to get an understanding of hospice care in general and are required to be a volunteer in the Hospice Home or with our patients.

Our volunteers are the lifeblood of Iowa River Hospice.  We could not do many of the things we do without them.  They put the community in our community organization!  Volunteers give to Iowa River Hospice in various ways; from providing patient comfort care, greeting visitors, quilting, landscaping, cooking, baking, providing music and helping with fundraising.  Whatever the need may be you can count on an Iowa River Hospice Volunteer to do their best to provide and fulfill that need.

"Volunteering for Iowa River Hospice not only allows me to give my time to a worthwhile organization, but it also fills a need for me".  "In 2014, I had a close friend pass away at the Hospice Home and I was very impressed by the care staff gave".  "I also had a stroke that year, but I still have my mouth and my heart which allows me to provide comfort care to patients”.
