Nurse Educator - Full Time
Qualifications:
Education & Licensure
- Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Iowa
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Experience
- Minimum of 2–3 years of clinical nursing experience (hospice preferred)
- Previous experience in staff education, training, or leadership preferred
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of clinical practices, regulatory standards, and compliance requirements
- Excellent teaching, communication, and organizational skills
- Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems
- Ability to analyze data and implement performance improvement strategies
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills
Work Environment & Expectations
- May require travel for patient visits, training, and community outreach
- Participation in on-call rotation as assigned
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to a dynamic healthcare environment
Professional Development

Job Responsibilities:
Clinical Education & Competency Management
- Develops, implements, and monitors clinical training and competency programs.
- Coordinates and delivers onboarding, orientation, and initial training for new hires.
- Ensures completion and accuracy of initial and annual competencies in accordance with organizational policies.
- Plans, organizes, and conducts in-service education programs.
- Coordinates training logistics including EMR systems, orientation materials, and clinical supplies.
Staff Development & Clinical Support
- Acts as a clinical resource for staff regarding procedures, policies, and best practices.
- Collaborates with Clinical Managers to promote effective orientation and ongoing education programs.
- Identifies skill gaps and supports annual competency development through targeted training.
- Maintains current nursing knowledge through continuing education and professional development activities.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Participates in quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives.
- Conducts chart audits, clinical documentation reviews, and compliance monitoring.
- Provides training on documentation standards and electronic medical record (EMR) system.
- Monitors infection control, safety, and risk management practices.
Clinical Operations Support
- Assists with patient visits as needed.
- Participates in administrative and clinical on-call rotation.
- Supports intake processes, including obtaining orders and reviewing referrals.
- Reviews schedules to identify missed or uninitiated visits.
- Collaborates with clinical team to ensure accurate documentation.
- Tracks supply to maintain adequate inventory.
Interdisciplinary Collaboration & Communication.
- Participates in care conferences and ensures compliance with agency and CMS regulations.
- Communicates effectively with on-call staff regarding scheduling and patient needs.
Community & Patient Engagement
- Assists with community education initiatives and outreach efforts.
- Builds and maintains positive relationships with patients, families, and referral sources.
- Promotes the organization as a high-quality provider of hospice services.
- Maintains knowledge of community resources and assists patients in accessing services when needed
