Volunteer with IRH

Those wishing to volunteer at Iowa River Hospice have many different roles they can fill, all of which help patients and their family members through a difficult time in their lives. Through providing patient and family support, helping at the Hospice Home, or volunteering in other ways, volunteers at Iowa River Hospice are truly providing a “friendly face” with whom to share life experiences.

Patient & Family Support

Volunteers are assigned to patients and their families in hospice to listen to and support their needs in an empathetic and understanding manner. Patient and family volunteers also:

  • Provide companionship and a listening ear to patients
  • Run errands for caregivers and other family members
  • Make shopping trips
  • Bake cookies
  • Sewing

Additional Volunteer Opportunities

There are also various other chances to volunteer with Iowa River Hospice such as working at fundraising events, gardening, and helping with office and mailing duties at Iowa River Hospice.
